Well, it’s official… I made it through day 4! My longest juice fast ever. Actually, I think I achieved that last night but tonight it feels more definite. So much happened today I’m not sure where to start, so perhaps in typical journal style, I’ll start at the beginning…
I was bouncing around until 1am this morning but was able to get up at 5am to go for a run with my running buddies. My ‘run’ was pretty lame; I had lemon water and a glass of juice before I left and the juice was gurgling around in my tummy and making me feel like I could have an accident at any minute! The run quickly turned into a 3-mile run/walk in the pouring rain – the photo is of the Charles River just before said downpour set in; I do sometimes have good timing.
Worked from home in the morning and finished my breakfast juice. Took another liter of tropical juice to the office for the early afternoon and felt alert and awake until about 4:50pm, at which point I had to shut my eyes for 10 minutes to regroup. It was nice to simply be tired though and not tired due to an overworked digestive system, or gluten, or something silly like that.
Then I had a work dinner… I called the restaurant in advance to let them know I’d be bringing juice and would only require a glass for the evening. The hostess was lovely and accommodating and even mentioned she had been thinking about doing a fast and would like to know more about it. The short version is that I got through dinner without a hint of need for food, survived all the questions (I think there is a blog post or two in there somewhere), rolling of eyes, and “I could never”‘s. I then chatted to Holly the hostess about pros and cons of buying juice for a fast vs. investing that cash in a good juicer and making your own – my vote? Invest in a juicer! It’s the same price as 2-3 pre-purchased fasts and you can make juice everyday.

Final thought for today… I can honestly say I can’t imagine eating again any time soon. It’s so weird but I’m not at all interested so will continue on this journey as long as it feels good.
Happy juicing, juicers!
xx
